The Ceccarelli Fat Lipolysis is a treatment for stubborn fat pockets that do not respond well to dieting or other weight loss methods.
The Ceccarelli solution, containing vitamin C and iron, uses the body’s metabolism by acting on the fat cells, causing natural fat cell destruction. The result is a reduction in those unwanted bulges and is most often used to reduce fat around the tummy, upper thighs, hips, love handles and saddle bags.
It can be used for excess fat under the chin, i.e. double chin as well as certain under-eye fat pockets.
How Many Treatments are required?
This depends on the amount of fat in the area that needs to be dissolved. Usually 2 to 3 treatments are necessary if there is a moderate amount of resistant fat.
Treatments can be repeated every 2 to 4 weeks. In most cases, one treatment is sufficient but up to 3 treatments can be necessary over a 6 to 8 week period.
Down time: Some swelling and bruising are to be expected for about 3-7 days after the injections.
It’s necessary to keep hydrated to help flush out the toxins and melted fat for a few days afterwards.
Please note: Ceccarelli injections are used for body sculpting and NOT indicated for people who have a large amount of weight to lose, and have global weight loss to tackle. A weight loss program and exercise would be needed to trim down before Ceccarelli injections can be performed.
Cost per treatment will be determined upon consultation with Dr.Mia.
There has been increasing literature that documents the efficacy of Botulinum Toxin A (eg: Botox® and Dysport®) for the treatment of variety of pain states including migraine and tension type headaches. Even though Botulinum Toxin A is most well-known for causing muscle relaxation by preventing the release of acetylcholine from nerve endings resulting in wrinkle reduction and resolution of muscle spasticity (blepharospasm) it also reduces the release of a variety of pain neuropeptides as well as blocking the feedback loop transmission of pain sensation.
For tension type headaches where persistently chronic muscle contraction contributes to the headache, a partial relaxation of the muscle in the region of the pain does much to alleviate the headache.
Tension headaches triggered by jaw clenching are also effectively relieved and prevented by using Botulinum Toxin A. Where headaches and muscular tension in the upper back and neck are caused by muscular trigger points, the entire muscle does not need to be relaxed as this would come with considerable stability and balance effects, Only the precise trigger points require injection and relaxation.
Please note that Botulinum Toxin A is NOT effective for severe stabbing pain on the cheek region or next to the eye.
Not all headaches respond equally well to Botulinum Toxin A
Certain migraine headache types respond better than others. For those whose headaches are described as imploding (vise-like, squeezing, crushing etc.) have a much higher response rate to the Botulinum Toxin A injections, 80% more than those headaches described as exploding in nature. Headaches due to muscle spasms (especially in the back and neck region) respond well to Botulinum Toxin A too as well as most types of tension headaches.
However, headaches in certain areas do NOT respond well to Botulinum Toxin A including top of the head, cheeks, between they eyes and immediately behind the ear.
Where and how are the injections performed?
Generally speaking, the injections are performed not only in the distribution of ones headaches on one side, but also on the opposite side even if there is no pain (fixed site strategy). Why? Experience has shown that injecting only on the one side where the headaches are located will result in the appearance of migraine headaches on the opposite side. Injecting both sides prevents the switch from occurring.
There are 4 general regions that are injected:
- Glabellum(right above and between the eyebrows)
- Forehead
- Temples
- Upper Neck
- Masseter muscle (primary source of jaw clenching and joint pain)
- Temporalis (side of the head)
- Back of the head
Each region requires anywhere from 4-5 injections on average to as many as 10 injections with each injection containing 1 – 5 units of Botulinum Toxin A. Most patients require injections in more than one region.
After injecting, there is a SLOW reduction in the severity and frequency of migraine headache attacks resulting in decreased need for medications (if at all) over time. As such, it may be up to 2 months before the benefit of Botulinum Toxin A may be realized by the patient.
Repeat injections are required every 3-6 months to maintain the benefits as Botulinum Toxin A wears off by then. Although maximum benefits occur when used prophylactically (treatments to prevent future attacks), it can also be used in the acute setting, though not as successfully.
Who qualifies for Botulinum Toxin A injections?
Contraindications, you are NOT a candidate if you suffer from:
- Neuromuscular Disorders (ie. Myasthenia Gravis)
- Myopathic Disorders (ie. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis)
- Pregnant

Botulinum Toxin Type A (eg. BOTOX® and DYSPORT®) are commonly used brands for the treatment of sweating given by injection into the skin. They are commonly used for treating localised hyperhidrosis of the armpits (axillae). This drug has been used for many years to treat muscle spasms affecting the face, eyes and neck and for foot problems in children with cerebral palsy. It is also used widely used for cosmetic purposes.
Botulinum Toxin A injection can be used to treat for palmar (hands) or plantar (feet) hyperhidrosis. it can also be used to treat sweating on the scalp (also useful to prevent hairloss) and the forehead. The skin in these areas is sensitive, and the treatment can therefore be painful unless an anaesthetic is applied.
The treatment is not a cure for hyperhidrosis – it only provides temporary relief. It needs to be repeated every four to six months for maximum effect.
When is it used?
Botulinum Toxin A is usually considered when topical treatments such as antiperspirants, iontophoresis and medications have been unsuccessful. Botulinum Toxin A is only effective in treating small areas and is therefore not a viable option for treating generalised hyperhidrosis.

Botulinum Toxin Type A works by blocking neural impulses to the muscles in the injected area. As a result, the muscles relax and muscle spasms — sudden, involuntary contractions of the muscles — are no longer able to occur.
Anyone who suffers from severe, chronic muscle spasms may be an ideal candidate for treatment with BOTULINUM TOXIN ® . Candidates though must be realistic in their expectations. Though BOTULINUM TOXIN ® injections are effective in treating muscle spasms in many patients, results do vary among those treated.
The most rewarding benefit received from botulinum toxin injections for muscle spasms is a relief from pain and discomfort. Botulinum toxin has long been proven to provide safe and successful relief from these types of afflictions, and in many cases, treatment with BOTULINUM TOXIN ® is less expensive and less invasive than other therapies, including surgery.
Unfortunately, the effects of treatment with BOTULINUM TOXIN ® are temporary. Periodic retreatment is necessary to maintain the therapeutic results.
The complications following BOTULINUM TOXIN ® treatment are minor. Nevertheless, side effects do occur in some individuals.
BOTULINUM TOXIN ® injections for neck spasms (or cervical dystonia) are highly successful in relieving pain and returning normal neck movement and range. Cervical dystonia is characterized my abnormal, sustained posturing of the head and neck caused by involuntary contraction of the muscles. The cause of cervical dystonia is unknown, but the condition can be aggravated by walking or during periods of stress.
“Unfortunately, stress and other factors such as disharmony of your jaw and teeth can lead someone to develop negative habits such as jaw clenching or nighttime bruxism. These habits can further leads to temporomandibular joint disorders (TMD) and tensioned related headaches.
Do You Suffer From Tension Headaches?
Nothing quite adds to the stress of the day like a tension headache. This is one of the most common types of headaches, and it is well-known for causing severe pain and discomfort. As you can probably imagine, the increased pressure from clenching the jaw does not exactly fare well with the person’s comfort level.
Preventing the jaw muscles from contracting too tightly can significantly reduce the amount of pain associated with a tension headache; of the patients who make excellent candidates for receiving Botox treatments at their dental clinic, approximately 40% suffer from these headaches on a regular basis. Relief can occur in as little as a few days post-treatment, but it commonly takes two weeks for one to notice a complete dissipation of the pain caused by tension headaches.
Battling Bruxism with Botox
Bruxism is another severe condition that should never be taken lightly; an individual who involuntarily grinds their teeth are putting themselves at risk for developing a number of serious oral health problems, including excessive wear on the chewing surfaces of the teeth as well as temporomandibular joint disorders(TMD). The latter consist of various conditions that cause pain and abnormal functioning of the jaw joints and the muscles which control the jaw.
If left untreated, TMD can lead to headache, lockjaw and permanent problems with one’s ability to speak and eat properly. As such, it is crucial to stop the issue at its source; since the vast majority of Bruxism patients grind their teeth and clench their jaws unconsciously, treatments must address the condition with this important piece of information in mind.
While night guards can do much in the way of preventing a person from unknowingly harming their mouth during sleep, the same cannot be said for patients who are awake or cannot tolerate their night guards.
Contrary to popular belief, many people diagnosed with TMD and tension headaches are those who clench their jaw not only at nighttime, but during the daytime as well. Since it is unrealistic to assume that most of these individuals will wear a mouth guard 24/7, Botox is widely considered the best solution.
Botulin Toxin Type A (the official name for BOTOX) is well known for its common use in the field of cosmetic enhancements for wrinkle removal. Nowadays, thousands of dentists and cosmetic surgeons across the world have becoming to rely on Botox by using its unique property to weaken the masseter muscle in the mouth enough to prevent the harmful effects of Bruxism, as well as diminish the amount of suffer from tension headaches when injected to the various trigger points.
Due to the fear many people have concerning Botox treatments in general, it is worth noting that Botulin Toxin only affects targeted nerves; it is completely safe and used only to dissipate the pain and discomfort caused by TMD, and not by adding to it.
How Botox works and what symptoms does it alleviate?
Although dental devices (i.e. mouth guards) and anti-inflammatory medication can reduce the pain associated with jaw clenching, doctors have found these treatments to be ineffective when it comes to targeting the source. On the other hand, the routine systemic pain medications that are normally prescribed by the medical doctors to help with the treatment of tension headaches, usually have multiple harmful side effects that are highly undesirable. Botox treatment in comparison is definitely a more desirable choice that can drastically improve the quality of life.
After a concentrated amount of Botox has been injected into the masseter muscle, the latter in effect becomes docile and unable to contract nearly as hard. Since this is the main muscle responsible for jaw movement, it is not hard to tell why Botox is so effective in keeping bruxism at bay. At the same time for treatment of tension headaches, BOTOX can be injected into frontal, temporal and other tensioned muscles on the craniofacial complex to relieve the symptoms of headache by relaxing the tensed muscles and relieve of tensioned trigger points.
With just one treatment, everything from involuntary grinding/clenching to sore jaws to tooth wear to routine tension headaches can be decreased drastically. The best part about using Botox for either conditions is that the toxin doesn’t interfere with voluntary jaw movements; patients can speak, eat, and make the same facial expressions just as they normally would without the treatment. Patients often also benefit from the side effect of BOTOX treatment for TMD, which is the diminished appearance of wrinkles and a slimmer jawline.
Each Botox treatment typically lasts between to two to four months, but can have a significant effect on your quality of life.”

Do you have scars, stretch marks, burns, or deep lines and wrinkles that you wish would disappear? Dr. Mia has the answer for you that may include not one but three different treatment options.
Solving Stretchmarks for Men and Women
These unsightly skin imperfections often cause embarrassment and keep far too many people from enjoying swimsuit season. Dr. Mia wants everyone to love the skin their in and uses medical grade chemical peels, dermapen, PRP, Hyalual and Laser to address the problem.
- Dermapen
Dermapen is taking the cosmetic industry by storm because of its ability to offer help to a wide spectrum of people with a broad range of scars. Even people with darker skin tones that were resistant to treatment in the past can improve scars and stretch marks with Dermapen micro-needling, also known as “dry tattooing.”
Micro-needling is a wonderful technique for improving the look and feel of tissue that has been scarred by acne or a wound, or stretched by childbirth or weight gain/loss. It can also:
- Smooth and flatten raised scars
- Break up fibrous scar tissue
- Firm the skin of loose scars and stretch marks
How does it work? By making small puncture marks in the upper dermis, micro-needling stimulates collagen and elastin production, smoothes skin and promotes scar and stretch mark reduction through the skin’s natural wound healing process.
- Chemical Peels
At Dr. Mia,a SKINTECH EASY TCA chemical peel is applied to the skin. It exfoliates the outer layers of dead skin, revealing a new layer of skin with better texture, tone, and color. It makes the skin peel the same way as a sun burn. The skin rejuvenates and tenses again progressively, the skin tone becomes more uniform, and scarring can be dramatically improved.
- Dermal Fillers
Dermal fillers are another popular cosmetic enhancement treatment with Dr. Mia’s patients. Most often requested for facial rejuvenation, dermal fillers can offer an effective treatment for scar and stretch mark relief.
Dermal Fillers are injected into the depressed tissue of the scar. Fillers plump up the hollow underneath the scar tissue, bringing it up to the level of the adjacent skin. This provides a more even, natural-looking contour to formerly misshapen skin.
Dr. Mia will advise upon consultation which treatment plan would be the best for you depending on the severity of the stretchmarks.

When do we recommend injectable Lipolysis?
This procedure is great for patients who are looking for a non- invasive solution to their small collections of stubborn fat. This treatment is most effective for patients with small collections of fat on the chin, arms, abdomen, waist, hips, thighs, legs, knees and back areas. Injectable Lipolysis is not meant to take the place of a healthy diet or exercise program, but will assist the body to get rid of unwanted fat and cellulite in specific areas.
How does it work?
Injectable Lipolysis uses a substance called Phosphatidylcholine (PPC), which is injected into the targeted areas of the body to eliminate fat build-up. PPC helps to destroy the walls of the fat cells, without affecting other cells of the body. This allows for the releasing of the fat, which is then metabolised by the body in a natural way.
The number of sessions required differs from person to person. The result process does not happen overnight and can take up to 2-3 months to see the final result, but is well worth the wait.
When do we advise against it?
This treatment is not suitable for children, pregnant or breastfeeding women as well as patients with medical conditions.
What to expect from the treatment?
Patients may experience swelling, tenderness and bruising for a few days after the treatment. The effects will subside over time and will not restrict you from any daily activities.
This treatment works synergistically with the Reviv Slimboost Infusion.
PHLEBOLOGY
Treatment of Varicose & Spider Veins
VARICOSE VEINS
Varicose veins are twisted, enlarged veins near the surface of the skin. They are most common in the legs and ankles. They usually aren’t serious, but they can sometimes lead to other problems.
What causes varicose veins?
Varicose veins are caused by weakened valves and veins in your legs. One-way valves in your veins keep blood flowing from your legs up towards your heart. When these valves do not work as they should, blood collects in your legs, and pressure builds up. The veins become weak, large, and twisted causing a varicose vein.
- Overweight
- Family History
- Aging
- Pregnancy
- Standing for long periods of time
What are the symptoms?
Varicose veins look dark blue, swollen, and twisted under the skin. Some people do not have any symptoms others may include mild symptoms such as:
- Swelling in your feet and ankles
- Itching over the vein
- Heaviness, burning, aching, tiredness, or pain in your legs. Symptoms may be worse after you stand or sit for long periods of time
More serious symptoms include:
- Leg swelling
- Colour changes in the skin
- Dry, thinned skin
- Inflammation
- Scaling
- Open sores, or bleeding after a minor injury
- Swelling and calf pain after you sit or stand for long periods of time
Varicose veins are common and usually aren’t a sign of a serious problem. But in some cases, varicose veins can be a sign of a blockage in deeper veins called deep vein thrombosis.
SPIDER VEINS
Spider veins are closer to the surface of the skin and appear red or blue. They look like spider webs or tree branches with their short, jagged lines. They can be found on the legs and face and can cover either a very small or very large area of skin.
Sclerotherapy
Sclerotherapy is the most common treatment for both spider veins and varicose veins. Dr Mia uses a needle to inject a liquid chemical into the vein. The chemical causes the vein walls to swell, stick together, and seal shut. This stops the flow of blood, and the vein turns into scar tissue. In a few weeks, the vein should fade. It is a fairly quick painless procedure to achieve blemish free skin. You can return to normal activity right after treatment.
The same vein may need to be treated more than once. Treatments are usually done every 4 to 6 weeks. You may be asked to wear gradient compression stockings after sclerotherapy to help with healing and decrease swelling. This treatment is very effective when done correctly.
Possible side effects include:
- Stinging, red and raised patches of skin, or bruising where the injection was made.
- Spots, brown lines, or groups of fine red blood vessels around the treated vein.
- Lumps of blood can get confined in the vein and cause inflammation. This is not hazardous. Swelling can be relieved by applying heat and taking an anti-inflammatory. Dr Mia can drain the trapped blood with a small pinprick at a follow-up visit.
- Sclerosant, injected outside of the vein can damage the surrounding skin. We take all necessary precautions to prevent this.
Electro Dessication
An electric current is passed through a special insulated needle to treat individual vessels. The needle decreases the healing time and tissue damage associated with non-insulated needles.
WHAT IS THE COST?
The total cost of sclerotherapy depends on the number of vials needed to achieve the desired results. Prior to your first session, you will have a consult with Dr Mia and receive a treatment plan that outlines the anticipated cost.
Orlight Pulse Light laser can be used for fine vessels and flushing.
Moles or melanocytic neavi are dark marks on the skin caused by melanocytes which are the cells in the skin that produce pigment (colour). Moles may vary in colour from the light ‘flesh’ coloured mole through to brown, dark brown and black. Moles can be flat or raised, smooth or rough. Some have hairs growing from them and others are usually round with a regular edge.
The mole removal process is done by excision (surgical removal with or without stitches) by Dr Mia. Skin tags may be easily removed by electrocautery.
Pre-Procedure
You will need to book a consultation with Dr Mia to assess your moles and discuss an appropriate treatment plan. All moles are carefully assessed before removal.
At the initial consultation you will be advised of any medications you may need to discontinue before the procedure. This is to minimize bleeding, bruising and swelling.
Post-Procedure
Follow-up consultations occur
- For lab results: If Dr Mia or yourself suspected any irregularities with the mole, it will be sent onto the lab for testing. Should the Pathologist find anything unusual or suspicious on your specimen you will be called back to discuss this result and a treatment plan with your Doctor.
- For stitch removal: Follow-up depends on the area that received stitches and the type of suture that was used. Facial sutures are usually removed on day 5.
To prevent infection during the recovery time, you need to follow Dr Mia’s advice and keep the area clean and covered with daily applications of ointment provided by Dr Mia.
Downtime
You will be able to carry on with your normal daily activities, taking the post-procedural instructions into consideration. Avoid direct exposure of the treated area to the sun until it is completely healed. It is advised to use a high SPF sunblock in the treated area. You will be advised to avoid any activity which may cause tension in the treated area for a period of 7-10 days.
HOW DOES A COOLTECH® PROCEDURE WORK?
Do you want to get rid of the stubborn fat? Do you think the only solution is to work out in the gym or a liposuction? If you still think this way it’s just because you don’t know the CoolTech® procedure yet.
CoolTech® consists in freezing the fat tissue, while respecting the collagen and skin elasticity, and afterwards, it removes the fat cells from the body in a natural and progressive way through the lymphatic system. FAQ
Q. I’ve heard of IPL, what is SPL?
A. It is the latest french innovation square spectrum natural light, filtered to remove Ultraviolet (UV) and Infrared (IR) wavelengths. This light targets the melanin (pigment) in the hairs, causing virtually all actively growing hairs to fall out in the treated area, 1 – 3 weeks after treatment.
Q. How does the Or-Light remove hair?
A. The light beam penetrates the skin and is absorbed by the pigment in the hair. This action heats the hair and is transmitted to the root of the hair, resulting in it being heated to a temperature of 70% C for milliseconds, thus disabling it. Hair follicles are destroyed by each flash resulting in the hairs falling out 1 – 3 weeks after treatment.
Q. How do we know the treatment was successful?
A. In most cases there are no visible side effects. Immediately following treatment it is usually possible to tweeze out a hair which confirms treatment success. Redness or “goose bumps” are also indications of a successful treatment. Hair is detached from its root but remains in its sheath during renewal of the epidermis (peeling). A light exfoliation 10 – 15 days after the session will assist in the shedding of the treated hairs.
Q. Is there any down time for the client?
A. Not at all, in fact these are perfect “lunch time treatments”. Although side effects are uncommon, it is wise to avoid direct sun exposure for 2 weeks preceding your treatments and for a few days after treatment an SPF sun block is recommended.
Q. How many treatments are required?
A. The Or-Light can only treat hairs in the growth phase. Approximately 10 – 20% of all hairs are in their growth phase at any one time. Certain “resting” hairs can also become active due to age and hormonal influences. Other factors which may influence results include hair colour and thickness. Everyone is different and several sessions (± 6 – 8), may be needed. After having completed the treatment programme, one or two annual maintenance sessions may be required.
Q. Is Square Pulsed Light (SPL) the same as laser?
A. No. Laser operates on a single wavelength and is exclusively adapted to a specific type of skin and hair colour. Because of its wide spectrum, the Or-Light is more diverse in use than a laser and successfully performs hair, freckle, pigmentation, capillary, puffiness, line, wrinkle etc reduction and/or removal.
Q. Who can be treated?
A. The darker the hair the better the result. Light and fine hairs can be treated, however with difficulty. White and red hair cannot be successfully removed. Although the Or-light effectively and safely treats skin types 1 – 5, a test patch may be performed to confirm treatment suitability. Dark and tanned skins may be treated with caution.
Q. Why is it necessary to shave the area?
A. Shaving is necessary to avoid the dissipation of energy at the skins surface. If the hair is not shaved, there is a decrease in efficiency as well as a greater risk of discomfort and side effects.
Q. Does it hurt?
A. The sensation is that of an elastic band lightly snapped against the skin. Most people find it less painful than waxing. Comfort levels vary from person to person depending on skin and hair colour, as well as hair size and density. Our built-in cooling system and patented square pulsed light technology ensures a safe and comfortable treatment.
Q. Are there any visible side effects?
A. Most people experience no visible side effects however, in some cases, it may take several hours for redness or “goose bumps” to disappear.
